Mayor Hillrey Adams met with students and staff members at Mountain Home High School on Wednesday to declare October 2023 to be Arkansas College Application Month.
He delivered a signed proclamation noting that the college application process is often a barrier to students pursuing postsecondary education. The proclamation also recognized that Mountain Home High School has placed a focus on assisting students and families with the application process as a part of the American College Application Campaign, which takes place each October.

An area outage (power and phones) is impacting some of our school buildings. Our phones are not currently operational. We do not have a timeline on the restoration of service, but we wanted our families to know what we know.

Bus 52 is running at least 30 minutes late. We had a mechanical issue and had to send out a new bus.

MHPS Kitchen of the Month:
KINDERGARTEN
Manager: Ladawn Cook
Staff: Wanda Foster, Annie Harrington, Patrice Kemp, Nancy Harr
These wonderful ladies take care of the kindergarteners, Ozark Opportunitities Preschoolers, and Little Bombers Pre-K students every day for breakfast and lunch as well as after school snacks. Even in the face of some adversity to begin the year, these ladies had a smile on their faces and a bounce in their step every day to be sure our youngest Bombers are eating well daily!

As the First Security Leadership Award season begins, we wanted to share one from last spring that we missed. Savannah Mathews, a current freshman, received the honor just before school was out last year. She was chosen by her teachers for leadership qualities demonstrated throughout the semester. Congrats to Savannah! Thanks to First Security Bank for all the kindness in recognizing our fantastic kids!

Homecoming Week 2023 is October 2-6! Here's a preview of the dress up days!

Mrs. Corales and Mrs. Perryman had their Honors classes at Pinkston make "Character Crocs." Students had to pick a character from one of the stories they've read so far and create Croc Charms to represent that character. They had to explain why they chose each charm.

Contact the Special Education Department at MHPS if you believe your child might have delays in learning:

Mrs. Dewey presents another Fun Fact Friday: Pinkston Edition! https://youtu.be/hOAT5DcvWYQ

Pinkston FACS students have been learning about kitchen and food safety, as well as knife skills. As their first lab, students mixed and cooked playdough to practice measuring skills and cooking safety. The dough is being used as a first attempt at different cutting techniques.

Most of the buses that run up 5N will be delayed by approximately 30 minutes today. There was an accident on the highway, and our buses have been stuck behind it. Thank you for your patience!
