Mountain Home High School 2025-26 Honor Graduate / Valedictorian - Salutatorian Requirements

Honor Graduate Policy for Class of 2026

To graduate with honors, a student must complete the MHHS Honors Diploma track in addition to completing at least two AP courses. 

The following designations are made based on a student’s GPA:  

  • Summa Cum Laude = above 4.0000 

  • Magna Cum Laude = 3.7500-4.0000

  • Cum Laude = 3.5000-3.7499

Requirements:  3.5 Grade Point Average and a total of 26 combined credits.

To graduate with honors, an eight semester transcript will be used, a student must complete the MHHS Honors Diploma track. All transcripts given to seniors in the spring for scholarships, employment, or college applications will be seven-semester transcripts.  The final transcript is the eight-semester transcript.  This will be mailed to the student’s college of choice in June following graduation (if the student has completed all graduation requirements and has earned a diploma). 

Honor Graduate Policy for Class of 2027 and Beyond

To graduate with honors, a student must complete the MHHS Honors Diploma track requirements in addition to the below designations. The following designations are made based on a student's GPA and course completions: 

-Summa Cum Laude = above 4.0000 and completes a minimum of 4 AP credits and sits for the AP exams for each course. Weighted credit will only be given for courses in which a student sits for the end of course AP exam. 

-Magna Cum Laude = 3.7500-4.0000 and completes a minimum of 3 AP credits and sits for the AP exams for each course. Weighted credit will only be given for courses in which a student sits for and completes the end of course AP exam. 

-Cum Laude = 3.5000-3.7499 and completes a minimum of 2 AP credits and sits for the AP exams for each course. Weighted credit will only be given for courses in which a student sits for and completes the end of course AP exam.

Valedictorian and Salutatorian Eligibility Policy

The following policy outlines the eligibility for MHHS Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2026 and beyond. To ensure consistency, equity, and fairness in the designation of valedictorian, salutatorian, and other academic honors, students must meet the following requirement:

  • Continuous full-time enrollment at Mountain Home High School for a minimum of five consecutive semesters, including the final semester prior to graduation.

This policy reflects the importance of a stable academic environment and a standardized curriculum in determining top academic achievement.

Exception for Military Families

- an exception to this requirement will be granted to students who are dependents of Uniformed Service Members and who are unable to meet the enrollment requirement due to relocation resulting from military orders.
