Mental Health Resources
School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) is a program designed to meet the mental health needs of students and families, on campus.
Mountain Home SBMH offers a full array of mental health services promoted at the school site. These services include:
Student Supports
A wide array of “pullout” interventions, including evaluation, crisis intervention, diagnosis; along with individual, group, family therapy
Comprehensive intake, referral, and case management processes
A collaborative partnership between school district and mental health provider staff
Appropriate linkages with community, regional, state, and national resources
Substance abuse related services including brief intervention, dual diagnosis intervention, and community resource linkage
Trauma-Informed care including Trauma Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for students suffering from PTSD and other trauma related symptoms
The Mountain Home SBMH program is approved by the Arkansas Department of Education, which ensures that the program is grounded on the following principles:
An emphasis on early identification.
Full integration with the community and its resources.
Placing students and their families at the center of the services decisions.
Providing services that are culturally competent.
A focus on promoting school attendance and academic success.
Services and supports validated by research and evidence-based practices.
Mountain Home Public School also contracts with one local agency: Hometown Behavioral Health (870-701-5141), for mental health and related services. This agency houses full time Mental Health Therapists on each of the Mountain Home campuses, along with support staff (Qualified Behavioral Health Providers) that support students and families with mental health and substance related services, including psychiatric services.
